Introduction to Biostatistics Using STATA for Health Researchers

The College of Medicine – Research Support Centre in Collaboration with UNC project will conduct an Introduction to Biostatistics Using STATA Course for Health Researchers

Dates:

  • March 14-18, 2016

Target audience:

  • This course is aimed at and numerate public health researchers who are planning to analyze public health data.

Prerequisites:

  • We will be using Stata in all of the computing lab sessions. It is essential that you bring to the course your own computer with Stata installed.

Format:  

  • The course will be delivered using a combination of lectures, demos, and labs. Students are expected to practice analytic skills during the lab sessions.

Objectives:

  • Gain familiarity with statistical concepts, including types of variables, descriptive statistics, statistical testing, and statistical modeling.
  • Implement these statistical concepts in Stata.
  • Interpret statistical results.
  • Draft a scientific abstract based on these results.
