College of Medicine Research Ethics Committee (COMREC)

College of Medicine Research Ethics Committee (COMREC) is constituted as an independent scientific and ethics committee through the National Commission for Science and Technology (NCST). Its primary responsibility is to the COM of the University of Malawi and to the Government of Malawi through the NCST. The main functions of COMREC are: Firstly, to protect the safety of human and animal subjects participating in research by (a) determining that the proposed research is both scientifically and ethical sound and, (b) Continually reviewing the safety of participants. Secondly, to promote research in the College and publications of results.
