Evidence Based Medicine course
Course goals
The goal of this course is to teach you the fundamentals of evidence based practice in order to prepare you for a future in the health care field. This course looks at:
- critical appraisal of literature
- use of library data bases and the Internet
- quality scoring of published research and implementation of evidence in clinical practice strategies, including barriers and incentives.

Learning outcomes
A successful student will be able to show that he/she can:
- Seek appropriate knowledge and information through a variety of sources and apply it appropriately to professional practice
- Critically discuss the value of evidence based practice in healthcare and be able to discuss in depth an area of professional practice.
- Critically compare and contrast professional practice with practice at local, national and international levels
- Identify and use relevant sources of the literature to improve learning and work performance
