HIGH PERFORMANCE LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY (HPLC) AND PLANT EXTRACTION TECHNIQUES WORSHOP

 

The College of Medicine through the Africa Centre of Excellence in Public Health and Herbal Medicine (ACEPHEM) in collaboration with Impact on Malaria, Maternal Health and the Prognosis for AIDS by Quality Assurance, Knowledge Exchange and Training (IMMPAQKT) project is pleased to announce a workshop in HPLC and plant extraction.

 

Dates:                13th -24th, November 2017

Venue:            College of Medicine, Mahatma Gandhi Campus, Blantyre

Facilitators:    Dr Darren Edwards from University of Dundee i(Scotland) and Dr John Igoli from the University Strathclyde in Scotland.

Workshop Coordinator: Dr Fanuel Lampiao, College of Medicine

 

Aim: The workshop is aimed at equipping participants with knowledge of how the HPLC machine works, hands on practice with the HPLC as well as techniques of plant extraction.

 

Workshop Methodology

Mainly interactive consisting of lectures, question and answer and discussion. There will also be hands-on laboratory practicals.

 

Who should apply: This course is recommended to all researchers and students working with herbal medicines and technicians in relevant laboratories. 

Workshop fee: USD100 per participant. Course fees cover course material, and tea.  The ACEPHEM has limited scholarships to cover the workshop fees of participants. These will be awarded on merit and on first come first serve basis.
