Data Entry Clerk (2 positions)

The Malaria Alert Centre (MAC) requires the services of enthusiastic individuals to work in various positions in studies operating under the International Centre of Excellence for Malaria Research (ICEMR) project for a period ranging from one to six years. The project seeks to better understand the persistence of malaria in Malawi by conducting community-based cohort studies and collecting data in Health Centres.

The data entry clerk will be responsible for entering data according to established procedures into the REDCap system used by the Data Management and Biostatistics Coreof the ICEMR. The data entry clerk will also ensure accuracy of all data recorded.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Store and catalogue received data and source documents.
• Contact the study team to resolve questions, inconsistencies, or missing data, when applicable.
• Enter alphabetic, numeric data from source documents into computer following format displayed on screen, and enters necessary codes.
• Confirm accuracy of data
• Generate reports and respond to inquiries regarding entered data as requested.
• Maintain confidential information

Technical and Professional Requirements:
To perform these duties, the data manager should be trustworthy and have:
• Experience in entering data entry with fast and accurate typing skills.
• Knowledge of record management procedures.
• Ability to work on MSWord, and MSExcel spreadsheets.
• Capacity to follow instructions furnished in verbal or written format.
• Capacity to plan work well and manage time.
• A Diploma in ICT studies, with at least 2 years’ experience with data entry.


The position is available for an initial period of two years and renewable subject to performance and availability of funding. The position will be associated with salaries and benefits commensurate with experience and qualifications as applicable to contract staff at Malaria Alert Centre, College of Medicine.
