Job Vacancy – PSV Driver (Project CHEER)


College of Medicine (CoM), a constituent of the University of Malawi has received grant funding from the United States Government through its National Institutes of Health (NIH); Grant Ref: 1 R25 TW 011455 – 01 to support capacity building, education and training of health professionals in Malawi. The CoM will implement this grant through its Project CHEER. A position of one PSV Driver exists within the institution. The post is available for an initial period of two (2 years) with the possibility of renewal for a further period of two years based on performance and availability of funds.


Duties and Responsibilities


These will include, but are not limited to the following:


  1. Driving college vehicles, which includes transporting staff, students, guests and supplies;
  2. Maintain log book and complete pre-trip inspections;
  • Operate and maintain vehicles as per COM transport policy;
  1. Report vehicle maintenance issues to appropriate offices;
  2. Ensure that vehicles are clean and tidy at all times;
  3. Ensure that vehicle fuel allocated is appropriately used for the intended purposes;
  • Ensure vehicle maintenance and service schedules are adhered to at all times.



Qualifications and Experience


  • Minimum of MSCE.
  • Must have valid and clean PSV and Defensive Driving Licenses.
  • Those with Chauffer skills will have an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years’ experience driving PSV vehicles.

  • Willingness to work on weekends, Public holidays, night shifts and long hours
