Malawi Cycling Challenge(13 June 2020)

As part of its programmes, the HPC has organised annual international Cycling Challenge to be held in Blantyre beginning 13 June 2020. The one day road-bike race will be held in Blantyre and parts of Thyolo and Mulanje districts, covering 145km. The route passes through tea plantations, mountainous areas, and flat lands.

This is the first time that Malawi will hold an international competition in cycling. It has so far attracted interest and enquiries from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, Botswana, Kenya, Tanzania and Lesotho. We expect many more to join.

Our partners for the event include Malawi Sports Council, Federation Cycling of Malawi, Auhuro (RSA). We are calling for more corporate and individual partners and sponsors.

Part of the funds from the race will be used to renovate a maternity wing at Lisungwi Rural Hospital in under Neno District Health Office. The hospital is in dire need of the wing.
