College of Medicine’s Centre for Reproductive Health (CRH) was established in October 2002 as a capacity-building project. The CRH strives to help build the human capacity required to scale up the implementation of the national reproductive health program for Malawi. One of the strategies is through delivery of various training programmes.The CRH is offering the following training

Course Description:
This course aims at equipping Research Assistants and Field Supervisors with ethical principles and skills required to conduct data collection, to train on the use of mobile tablets for data capturing and transmission and to impart practical skills on how to collect rich and valid qualitative and quantitative data. The target participants are research assistants, field supervisors, research coordinators, research scientists, research associates, programme monitoring and evaluation experts and undergraduate and post graduate students interested to increase knowledge in qualitative and quantitative data collection.

 
The topics to be covered will include:
1. Research ethics.
2. The process for conducting informed consent
3. Participants recruitment procedures
4. Handling of electronic gadgets (tablets) in data collection.
5. Conducting focus group discussions (FGD) and in-depth interviews (IDI)
6. Transcription and translation of qualitative interviews.
7. Quantitative & Qualitative data management

 

Methods of Assessment and credits for each course:

No formal assessment. Attendees will get a certificate of attendance and course materials.

Duration: 3 days for each course.

Fees: US$275.00 per course. Course fees covers course material, lunch and refreshments.
