POSTGRADUATE SUPERVISION TRAINING WORKSHOP

The University of Malawi (through its Africa Center of Excellence in Public Health & Herbal Medicine (ACEPHEM) and partial funding from the Consortium for Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA) is pleased to announce a post-graduate supervision training workshop.

Date: February 4-8, 2019.

Venue: College of Medicine (Blantyre Campus)

Facilitators: Dr. Lucas Zinner (University of Vienna-Austria)

Dr Tonney Nyirenda (University of Malawi)

Objectives

  1. Gain awareness of how institutions nationally and internationally are currently developing research supervisors.

  2. Identify best practices to enhance supportive supervision.

  3. Have greater awareness of the changing context of doctoral education

  4. Be able to describe central and local rules and regulations of relevance to doctoral/postgraduate studies

Participants to the Workshop will be:

  • Deans or Directors of Postgraduate Studies

  • Directors of Quality Assurance

  • Council for Higher Education

  • Advanced doctoral Students

  • Faculty who supervise postgraduate students

Workshop fees

ACEPHEM will provide tuition scholarship only. Participants and/or their institutions are expected to contribute accommodation and transport to and from the workshop.
